The Japanese-crafted profile gauges feature highly durable stainless steel needles that remain securely fixed after taking the profile.

Ideal for:
Scribing around awkward chapes for flooring & tiling
Contour or Profile Gauges are essential tools for accurately replicating existing profiles or moldings. They feature numerous small stainless steel pins housed in a steel frame, which move independently yet remain firmly in place.
When pressed against a surface, the pins adjust to match the profile, forming an exact negative impression on one side and a matching positive profile on the other.
This allows precise tracing or duplication of the contour onto another material.

All bladed items require Age Verification with ID on delivery, this is £6.99 to comply with the new law on shipping blades
All other countries - shipping is calculated at checkout based on your shipping address and weight of items in the basket.
Delivery Times
UK Delivery
All our shipping is sent Tracked to ensure you receive your goods securely and timely. If it is over a certain value we will send it Tracked with a Signature. We dispatch all orders within 1-2 working days.
We have recently switched to Royal Mail who offer 24hr Tracked & Signed delivery from Monday to Saturday. We can't offer time slots or weekday only deliveries as Royal Mail will deliver this on your usual post delivery.
We don't accept responsibility for delivery to building sites as we can't guarantee who will sign for it and unfortunately previous deliveries have gone missing due to this. If you choose to use a building site address and it is shown as delivered on tracking, we will not accept any liability if you were not the person who received it.
If you enter an incomplete address on your order and the order is returned to us, you will need to pay the outbound shipping cost for the second shipment of it to you.
International Delivery - the same terms apply but with a guideline delivery time of up to 1-2 weeks days depending on your country.
Delivery queries
All orders are sent on a Tracked service, we send tracking information on dispatch & tracking shows the live status of the delivery day. It is the customer responsibility to check tracking & ensure they are present for the delivery time. If the customer is not available, they can amend the delivery date to another day or collect from a local collection point. If the order is delivered on the stated delivery day stated when the customer is not present & after delivery the parcel is stolen this is not the responsibility of TF Tools Ltd.
Any issues with delivery of goods, damages, incorrectly sent items must be notified to us within 14 days, this is the customer's responsibility.
For damages - you need to take images of the damage to the item and/ or packaging to support the complaint with the courier and send to info@tftools.co.uk with your order number (starts TFT).
The items must remain unused, in original packaging and in resalable condition for us to provide a resolution.
If it is after 14 days or the items has been used, this will be considered acceptance of the goods as received.
Return to Sender - Royal Mail now charge for failed deliveries for incorrect delivery addresses, tracked parcels not collected, unpaid customs on international deliveries. TF Tools Ltd will charge a subsidized fee of £4.99 to partially cover this cost, this will be deducted from a refund or chargeable when resending the parcel plus the usual new shipping fee

Good build quality but is fragile due to the nature of what it's used for and could benefit for a case. Also don't pick it by the pins as there's nothing other than friction holding them in place.

Ideal for taking off from complicated door-jamb and transferring to template from which to order a custom-made brass doorstep-cover. This brasswork was going cost over £200 so it was essential to get a very precise and detailed profile, and this gauge did that perfectly. Worth every penny, combined with very responsive and helpful service from TF Tools so, all-in-all, complete confidence and satisfaction in both the product and the retailer. I'll buy from them again without any hesitation.

Great quality and produces a very detailed profile. Perfect in my case for profiling the hull of a model ship. I do have a plastic version of this tool however it is not of the quality of this……they do say you get what you pay for…👍

Well made tool. My only criticism is that, if the packet it came in didn’t have the curves and indents it has, it would be easier to use for storing the guage, and therefore for protecting it from damage.

Another great tool. I had a cheaper one, but not nearly accurate enough. I need to match an exact profile and this one made it a breeze to do. This is well worth the extra money if you want perfect results. And you get a chocolate too!

Well made. Pins follow profile very closely. Chose the 300mm version because I deal with a lot of big Victorian and Edwardian skirting boards. Just could do with a case or wallet, leather or similar just to protect it in my tool tote bag- as the pins are quite delicate

Does the job Bought to get profile from architrave, works very well. Pins are thin and stay straight so gives accurate profile.

Insane fun This is a tool I only really needed intially for one particular job, and it was perfect, flawless. Since then I'm just looking for excuses to use it on anything, even if I don't really need to. It's great for making carvings symmetrical for instance. And with my 5 year old son it is just so much fun finding things to take impressions from... Worth the price just for that!
Good kit Handy scribe tool. Robust and smooth to use. Still requires some level of craftsmanship to use and successfully complete a scribe. But definitely takes a lot of guesswork out of the job in hand. I’ve knocked off one star, only because I feel like it needs to come with a protective cover. Hate to bend one or two of the pins out of place. !? I kept the plastic wrapping it came in to use as protective cover in my tool box. Fingers crossed eh !
Quality Profile Gauge I don't use the gauge very often, but when I do its a pleasure to use. Very accurate and sturdy for square profiles or radius cuts. Definitely versatile as my kids have more fun playing with it profiling their hands and faces than I get to use it at work.

Shinwa profile gauge My order a small Shinwa profile gauge, the reviews didn’t lie what a perfect piece of kit Ive used ones half the price and they’re dreadful ive used ones double the price and they’re just as bad they are all either to cheap and loose or the pins are immovable with gimmicky adjusters that never work ,this Shinwa gauge is perfectly balanced and nicely priced for the quality and i only ordered it on tues good stuff
A Profile Gauge That Works I purchased the 150mm Shinwa Profile Gauge to replace an ageing previous tool. Quite simply this gauge does exactly what it is supposed to do. The stainless steel pins are quite fine, being 0.8mm diameter and all the pins slide with equal pressure from one end of the gauge to the other. There are no tight spots and firm pressure against a workpiece produces an accurate and reliable profile for copying. I have used this to replicate profiles on period mouldings that require a good degree of accuracy and quite simply it does an excellent job. Many other manufacturer`s profile gauge reviews have issues with the pins being too tight, particularly at the ends - this product has no such problems. It is fit for purpose. Highly recommended.
