Useage

With this tool you can create long, straight scribe lines on components made of wood, metal and concrete.

Filling with chalk powder

Fill the chalk tank halfway with chalk powder

Fill the chalk tank halfway with chalk powder. Overfilling will impair the function of the chalk line.

Warning
Do not put too much chalk powder in the tank!

Automatic rewind

The thread has a length of 10 m, but this chalk line will automatically rewind up to 8m of line. If you extend the thread more than 8 m, please click the button to unwind the spring tension.

Rewinding the thread

The spring is sufficient for an automatic thread feed up to a length of 8 m. When you want to rewind, use the automatic string rewind for the first 8m and rewind the remaining string by hand. Once the retaining pin (called in Japanese "karuko") is fully recessed into the housing with the needle, wind the coil spring again. (See also disassembly, assembly and useage)

Safety instructions

Wear safety goggles
Wear safety goggles!

During automatic rewind, there is a risk that the pin at the end of the string can hit you if the string is rewound too fast. For your safety, wear safety glasses. When winding the thread hold the chalk line tightly, and regulate the speed at which the line is wound. This will help ensure a safe rewinding.

Damaged line can adversely affect the performance of your chalk line. Therefore cut the thread immediately next to the damaged area and attach the end to the pen. (See also "Secure attachment of the pin on the end of the thread")

Removal and cleaning of coil

Removal and cleaning of coil: remove debris from all parts

  1. Open filler cap
  2. Loosen set screw and remove the handle
  3. Rotate the spool cover, and then remove from the case. Please look at the triangles on the cover and the housing to see how the parts should align.
  4. Carefully remove dirt and debris from all removed parts. To clean, wipe the removed parts with a soft cloth or paper towel.

Spool

lösen Locking
  1. Spool cover
  2. Handle
  3. Locking screw
The triangle marks meet exactly: the cover can be removed.

The triangle marks are around 15 degrees apart: the spool cover is secured.

Watch out! Remove only the cover of the spool If you remove the coil itself, you have to throw away all the chalk powder in order to assemble the chalk line again can.

Installation of the spool cover - Proceed in the reverse order

  1. Rotate the cover of the coil and attach it to the chalk line body, placing the cover on so the two meet triangular marks exactly. Then turn the cover to the right so that it clicks into place.
  2. Place the handle on so that it hits the cross-shaped groove
  3. Tighten the locking screw.
  4. Close the filler cap
If the line does not rewind automatically, please clean the inside of the housing as described below.

Disassembly and Assembly

Disassembly
To relax the spring tension: Press the spring release button until the spring force relaxes.

Disassembly: open the filler cap, and turn the spool cover in the direction of "open". When the two meet triangular markers closely, you can remove the cover and see the spool.
  1. Spool
  2. Handle
  3. Bobbin cover
  4. Press here!
  5. Knob for adjusting spring tension
  6. Button to relax
Assembly

lösen Assembly
Assembly: Remove the remaining chalk powder completely.

Rotate the cover so that the triangle mark on the cover and the body align exactly. Make sure that there is no gap ( see 1 above) between the spool and housing.

Spring tension: When you turn the spring tension knob four to five times the to the left, you can tension the spring. Extend and retract the chalk line until you have verified that the line wraps automatically.

When the triangle marks are aligned, the spool cover is ready to be removed. When the triangle marks are apart, the cover is fixed to the chalk line body.

Watch out! Be careful not to excessively turn the spring tension knob in the clockwise direction. The chalk line will no longer work.

Replacing the cord

(See first disassembly and assembly, spring tension)

Replacing the cord
Replacement of the cord. Remove the coil, remove the old line, and wrap a new one onto the spool.
  1. On the new line, tie a slip knot, as shown on drawing A.
  2. Tighten the knot and expand the loop, as can be seen on drawing B.
  3. Twist the loop in the middle, to create a figure 8, as shown on drawing C.
  4. Fold the top loop of the figure 8 over the bottom, as can be seen on drawing D.
  5. Put these loops around the spool as shown in drawing E, then tighten with a bit of pulling on the free end of the line. Wrap the cord in the direction of the arrow.

Reattaching the Safety Pin with Retracted Needle to the line

Auswechseln der Schnur
  1. The cord is threaded through the tip of the pen. If it is a thick line (diameter about 1 mm) insert it through the hole on the side with the characters 1  out.A thin line (diameter about 0.5 to 0.6 mm) is inserted through the hole on the side with the characters  2 threaded.
  2. The threaded cord is tied at the end.
  3. The cord is tightened, so that the node is attached to the notch of the pin.
  4. The protruding end is cut off. That's it.

Troubleshooting and solutions

Problem Test Possible Solution
String will not pull out. Check that the cord has come off the spool. Carefully re-wrap the line around the spool.
Cord is difficult to rewind If the spring tension is too low? Increase tension of the spring
Has dirt accumulated inside the path of the line? Eliminate any possible contamination in the canal of the line.
Overfilled with chalk? See: filling with chalk powder
Cord can be pulled out without resistance and will not be wound up. Parts are damaged inside the chalk line or badly worn? You need a new chalk line (repair impossible)
