MTC range by Martinez Tools Company brings a lightweight titanium hammer to the mid range market making it a solid choice for the more budget conscious.
What is the difference between MTC and Martinez Titanium hammers?
The key difference is in the head. The MTC Head is titanium with a replaceable steel face. This means the overall weight of the hammer is typically lighter than the Martinez hammers which have 1pc all steel head.
What is the MTC hammer weight?
The weight distribution is slightly different on the MTC as the face is steel but the head is titanium so the overall weight is lighter.
The head is 12oz will have a similar feel to the Martinez as the 14in handle MTC weighs 800gs, M4 weighs 780g and M1 is 900g. It will handle 90mm framing nails.
What are the face shapes on the MTC?
The main differences to choose are face shape O nose or D nose and handle length 14/16in. The D nose can be useful for 30mm square twist nails for timber connection metal work. It is a similar shape to a Martinez M4 head.
You will have a very similar result of less striking force with the titanium handle.

Head Bolts and grips
The head bolt is the similar connection to Martinez hammer however they don't recommend interchanging them as they are two different systems.
The bolt is the same gauge but different head, it's a hex head, not a star head. It's best practice to keep the head and bolt combinations together.
It might impact the warranty of each part as not designed for use with the other model
As with any tools with moving parts, they will require the same after care and maintenance. Tighten the head bolt every few months to ensure it is secure & no movement in the head.
The grip pin screw is connected in a similar way to the Martinez grip.
